Poncho

This one was fun because Gracie got to arrange all the knitted squares the way she wanted before I sewed them together.

Living on the Edge

The other day we were at the beach and the Lord prompted me to pray for a man.  We had drove really far away from all the other people on the beach so we were quite secluded. I didn't know him and I really didn't want to.  I was afraid of rejection, and plus we were all sunburned and tired and ready to head home, I wanted to be selfish.  Besides what could I say to him, I couldn't think of anything that wasn't cliche-ish  (Is that  word?")
Do we ever get over it?  Worrying about what other people think?  I wish I could say that I have arrived and I am no longer bothered by what people think about me or what they might say if I do this or that.  I would be lying if I said, I don't care what anyone else thinks about me, I only care what God thinks.  I guess it will always be a temptation to worry about men's approval.  When Holy Spirit speaks to me clearly and tells me to go and encourage someone and the temptation to not do it invades my mind, I try to remember that God is interested in my obedience and seeing my character grow and my faith increase.  Yes of course he wants me to tell that person about Him, but if not me He will use someone else.
I want to be that ship He chooses to sail on. I want to be His hands and feet.  I am learning to take very seriously the Lord's promptings in my life concerning others.  I could have been that man that drove all the way from Austin to come to the place I had buried my child's ashes. To fish and quietly reflect on the death of my precious child.  I remember walking toward him and telling James I didn't have a clue what to say and I was scared.  I remember just recently reading something about obeying God and then trusting Him to come through for us.  Do you remember that old song "Trust and Obey for there's no other way....."  I wonder if we should say Obey first and thennnnn Trust!  Only then can we realize God's goodness and faithfulness.  We must Obey his promptings.  As we stood in front of the man sitting in his chair fishing, God showed up just like He always does..God knew this man's needs and question's.  He knew he needed encouragement.  The funny thing is, my faith went up a couple of notches and I too was encouraged by this man.  As he threw his cigarette to the ground he asked if we could pray together.  As we held hands, I felt the presence of the Lord in that place..we were where God was.  We were with Him on the beach.

His hands and feet

This is Jennifer, she is a physical therapist. She lives in Guatemala and this is little Jessica.

"We don’t know what awaits Jessica, but we do know that her life is in His hands, and we are praying we can use this to demonstrate God’s compassion for His children to her and her family." Jennifer

Tortilla Tuesday

Tomorrow my family and I will be eating tortillas, beans and rice, a staple food in Central America. Most of the poor eat this every single day and are happy to have it.  This is a great way to educate your children on what other children eat in our neighboring countries and to also remind them of how blessed they are with the variety of food they have to choose from. If you really want to be daring why not eat beans and rice for a whole week!
I will be posting different topics and links this week on Central America and the Missionaries there that are making a big difference! So go on get your camera's out and take pictures of your Tortilla Tuesday!
Post them on facebook.  Tell how the experience changed you.  What did your kids have to say Make a video and post it on my blog, I would love to see it! Go here on more Tortilla Tuesday information: http://buildingtheblocks.blogspot.com/2011/03/cool-beans-with-tortillas.html

A blog about not blogging, per say...

Ok, so I am a horrible blogger. I thought this would be so much fun when I started. I realized after several blogs that I might not be cut out for this. I mean in order to really be an effective blogger you must commit to writing, thinking, and downloading/uploading pictures; oh and not to mention you need to be able to be creative and somewhat savy..you know, all the things that go along with blogging.  With that being said, I have to admit all my creative energies are spent on my husband, three little girls, home schooling, cooking, cleaning, sewing, reading, bike riding and sleeping. Yes, sleeping...it's very important you know? By the time I get to the computer to possibly write something down, to be quite honest I am tired and don't have the energy or the wit to entertain an audience. I look at other ppls blogs that have children and I start to feel so inadequate. Seriously how do they do it? I admire Pioneer Woman and all those that can run a household of several children, homeschool, AND blog. It's awesome. It's just not for me(at least right now). I can't compare myself to the super moms I admire. Ok, so back to being a bad blogger. So I have come up with an efficient idea. I have decided to have a wordless blog, at least for now. Ok, ok so not totally wordless because if that were so you wouldn't be reading this right now. I want to take a picture everyday of something that inspires me or grabs my attention. Maybe it will inspire you too. It's only right that I give a disclaimer here at the end of my blog about not blogging...hehe. All the pictures you see will not necessarily be happy ones. I hope that what ever it is will evoke emotions that move you to action, make you think, possibly even create a conversation between you and God. If anyone has questions about a picture please leave a comment, I would be happy to reply with another picture explaining what that picture is about.  No just kidding, you will get a reply with real live words mostly made up from the Alphabet. Sooooooo, without delay I will post my first picture.

Ok, so it's been awhile since I have blogged. Besides being really busy with sewing, kids, and the like, I have been sorta speechless as far as blogging goes. Have you ever felt like you had alot to say, but just didn't know how to say it. That is how I have felt for some time now. I am hoping I can carve out more time to write, which is something I really enjoy. Meanwhile, enjoy the new pictures and hope to be back soon.
